"Crescent Moon" is a novella written by Lao She in 1935 and made into a movie of the same name in 1986. The novel uses Yue Yaer as a clue and reflects the living conditions of China's urban poor in the first half of the 20th century through the experiences of two generations of mother and daughter becoming prostitutes.
