About This Novel
"Journey to the West", a Ming Dynasty novel about gods and demons. It describes that Sun Wukong was born, learned Taoism, caused trouble in the Dragon Palace, disturbed the underworld, and caused trouble in the Heavenly Palace. He was suppressed by the Tathagata at the foot of the Five Elements Mountain; he wrote about Guanyin looking for Buddhist scriptures; Wei Zheng dreamed of slaying the Jinghe dragon; Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty entered the underworld; Xuanzang responded to the imperial edict to retrieve Buddhist scriptures. The main part is about the experiences of Tang Monk and his disciples on their way to the West, where they defeated many demons and finally obtained the scriptures and sent them back to the East.
