About This Novel
This book is a fantasy novel published by Dunsany in 1924. It is recognized as one of the most influential and acclaimed works in the history of fantasy literature. It was later included in the "Balantine Adult Fantasy Series" (the most influential fantasy book series in the history of European and American fantasy, with a total of 67 books) as the second volume in the series. Summary of content: This story takes place in a kingdom with a history of more than 700 years. The people there hope to be ruled by a "magical monarch", so the young prince accepts the task and goes to the Elf Kingdom in an attempt to steal the Elf King's daughter and marry her. It took ten years to complete this task. When the no longer young prince returned to the country, the old king had passed away, so he and his elf queen took over the country and gave birth to a son. However, the story did not continue to develop in the direction of a fairy tale. Because the daughter of the Elf King was not happy in the human kingdom, she finally secretly escaped back to her hometown, leaving her prince to pursue him alone.
