About This Novel
The heroine Carol was born in a judge's family, with a simple mind and a kind heart. After marrying Kennicott, a country doctor, she was willing to follow her husband to settle in the town of Gopher Prairie. She went there with the desire to "renovate the prairie town." But the reality made her unbearable. She stayed in Washington for two years and felt the differences and similarities between the capital and the small town. In the end, she returned to the town of Gefill Prairie. Although she admitted her failure, she still adhered to her beliefs.
