About This Novel
"Four Gentlemen" is four articles in the "Neighborhood Series" created by Gonzalo Manuel Tavares. It tells the daily interesting stories of four neighborhood characters, and the characters are named as poets and writers: Mr. Valery, Mr. Henry, Mr. Brecht, and Mr. Calvino; each article is divided into many short chapters, sometimes even one sentence. It is this peculiar fragmented narrative form that makes it difficult for his creations to be classified as existing literary forms. However, it is interesting to read and has some philosophical meaning. The book is illustrated by Tavares' wife, Rachel Caiano. Rachel Caiano is an artist and illustrator who has illustrated many works and won the Young Designer Award.
