Pamuk's Unique Color Series: Museum of Innocence
About This Novel
In the spring of 1975, in Istanbul, the 30-year-old wealthy son Kemal Kemal was engaged to the socialite Sibel, but unexpectedly met his distant cousin from a poor background, the 18-year-old innocent girl Füsun. After the passionate love between the two, Kemal finally broke off his engagement with Sibel, only to find that Füsun had already left him. Kemal followed the girl's shadow and ghost deep into another Istanbul, walking through the poor back streets and hanging out in open-air cinemas. On the streets destroyed by nationalist bombs, on the strait illuminated by the fires of oil tanker collisions, under the curfew after the military coup, he tried to get closer to Füsun until the unbearable longing made life completely deviate. In order to calm the pain of love, he carefully collected everything about his sweetheart, everything she loved, and even everything she touched, and collected them into his "Museum of Innocence"... Pamuk said: "Everyone should be able to gaze into each other's eyes and talk about love, so that we can have true love." In this work, Director Pamuk proves one thing, what exactly is love?
