About This Novel
"The Great Gatsby" is a novella written by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald, set in New York City and Long Island in the 1920s. This is Fitzgerald's third novel in his creative career. At this time, he had a deeper understanding of literature and art, so he repeatedly considered and revised it, striving for excellence, until April 1925 when he published the manuscript. The protagonist, James Katz, is a poor farmer's boy in North Dakota. He has dreamed of becoming a big shot since he was a child. After some hard work, he finally rose through the ranks and changed his name to Jay Gatsby.
