About This Novel

"The Missing Man" is Kafka's novel (published in 1927). It tells the story of a boy named Karl Huysmans. When he was sixteen, he was kicked out of the house by his parents because he was seduced by a maid, and he lived alone in the United States. Carl is innocent, kind and compassionate. Egoists and swindlers of all stripes took advantage of Karl's gullibility, and he was often fooled. He seeks a place to live and freedom, but becomes increasingly trapped in a Kafkaesque labyrinth world.
