About This Novel

Australian doctor Dorrigo Evans was captured by the Japanese during World War II. In addition to treating sick and disabled prisoners of war, his daily work in the prison camp was also responsible for selecting the number of people specified by the Japanese army to build the Thailand-Burma Railway. In the process of building this "Death Railway", people died every day due to beatings, hunger, tropical diseases and heavy work. During the day, Dorigo Evans had to find a way to rescue his comrades who were struggling on the verge of death. When he is alone at night, he will think of the only true love he has ever experienced in his life, and wait for Amy's letter day after day. Finally one day, he received a letter, and this letter changed his life...
