About This Novel

"Girls" is based on the "Manson Family". Quentin's film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", recently released in North America, tells the story of the brutal murder of the famous director Polanski's pregnant wife by the Manson family in 1969. The "Manson Family" is the most famous cult organization in the 20th century. Its leader, Charles Manson, was called "the most dangerous man alive" by Rolling Stone magazine. He directed his men (mostly young girls) to commit murders that shocked the world. Its cruelty and bizarreness have become the source of countless books, films, and musical works. This book was unanimously selected as the "Best Book of the Year" by 18 authoritative media including the Washington Post, and was shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Best First Novel. In this novel, a 14-year-old girl named Evie is lonely, confused, and longs for the attention of others. She met several hippie girls in the park. The girls were dirty and sexy. They disdained the secular world but attracted worldly attention everywhere. Evie follows them to the farm commune, whose leader Russell is a charismatic leader who preaches love and sharing. Evie's heart returns to the farm world day by day, and dangers beyond her understanding are getting closer and closer...
