About This Novel

This book tells the story of Li Xiong who led the army to fight against the officials and establish his own dynasty in the late Western Jin Dynasty. At the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, the government was in chaos, officials were corrupt, taxes were heavy, and there were years of drought. People in many places fled to famine, became refugees, and were ravaged by local officials. Li Xiong, a young man from Lueyang, was sent by his father Li Te to collect rent in Baiyang Village. At Ren Hua's house, he met Ha Xia, the son of Yizhou governor Ha Guang, to press for debts, and the two fought. Ren Hua heals Li Xiong's injuries. Under the leadership of Li Te, Li Xiong, along with the county magistrate Menshi and others, went to Shu with his family and the refugees to seek food. Li Xiong assisted his third uncle Li Chao in recruiting refugees to form a private army for Haguang.
