About This Novel
A plump, white man in his thirties who looked very impressive was sitting at a round table in the living room, drinking wine and eating boiled crab roes. Opposite him sat a thin, yellow, short woman. The woman's eyes were gray and dim. They were wide open and looking straight at her husband. The hand holding the chopsticks was shaking slightly, a little sickly, and he was not picking up the food. A piece of scone was placed on the plate in front of her, steaming hot and giving off a strong fragrance. "What kind of weather is this? It's gloomy; it looks like it's going to rain." The fat man said, frowning, and stuffed a small piece of crab meat into his mouth. "But," the thin woman continued, "Why does it keep raining?" "This is science. Only people who are engaged in science know." The man said slowly.
