About This Novel
Private detective Marlowe encounters a strange drunk who was abandoned in the parking lot and takes him home. The drunkard is not old, but he has white hair, scars on half of his face, and has had plastic surgery. Although he is in extreme poverty, he still behaves well-educated. Marlowe and he became friends with whom he occasionally drank quietly. Early one morning, this gentleman drunkard found Marlowe, claiming to have killed his wife, the slut of a millionaire, and asked him to help him run away, thereby dragging Marlowe into an incredibly long farewell... This is a story of soul exchange in the true sense, a story of spontaneous mutual understanding between people, a story of the beautiful illusions held by human beings and the deep disillusionment it inevitably causes.

Cultural differences make foreigners' words indigestible to us. No matter how smooth the translation is, it is really hard to chew. After reading the classics, I feel very general. If it weren't for some classic sentences, I really feel that translation is really important. The soul of the entire book has not been fully revealed.

Finished reading! Will still be watching.
I read the English version, what a tactful translation.
i like the way you talk
这本书看得颇曲折,前前后后花费了许多时间和精力,最终能够看完,总算长舒一口气 Chandler's characteristics are difficult to explain. His language is always sharp and he always points out the phenomenon to the point. The story is not fascinating, but the charm of the language adds points.故事有血有肉,人物也是,但我确实看得很辛苦,也正是由于他精炼的语言
long farewell
There are many things that we may not be able to understand, so let it pass. Why bother? It's enough to take control of your own life. Don't say goodbye to humanity and kindness during the trip.
所有那些人我都再也没见过--除了警察 I haven't thought of any way to say goodbye to them yet.
If you haven't read it yet, please sign in first, la la la
But not a very outstanding novel
Don't let the ending take away the light of the story itself
