About This Novel
In order to search for the relics of the Northeast Anti-Japanese War, I visited the deep mountains and forests in the Greater Khingan Mountains several times. At the end of the Year of the Horse, in Mordaogarin District, I met Ma Youjiang, the director of the management station. My friend Lao Xing, a writer in Mordao Galin District, told me that Ma Youjiang is of pure Manchu descent. His ancestral surname is Ma Jia, and his ancestor was Sheng Yin, the Minister of Rites during the Daoguang period. Although I am Manchu on my ID card, to be honest, I am only a quarter of Manchu. I am blessed with the light of my Koromama (in Manchu, that is grandma). At that time, the county where I was located was changed to a Manchu Autonomous County. It was said that there were many preferential policies, so I changed my ethnicity to Manchu along with those who wanted to enjoy the preferential policies. My grandma is of pure Manchu descent. Although I have more Han ancestry, I have been interested in the Manchus since I was a child.
