About This Novel
The story about Heidou, an unmarried young man in our village, can be told after he asked someone to install the tin pot on the platform. That day, two swashbuckling city dwellers suddenly came to our village. They drove a junk car. They didn't talk at first, they just took out something from the car like magic, and pieced it together into a shiny silver tin pot. They put a braid on the tin pot, and then connected it to the TV set at Heidou's house. Originally, the TV in our village could only receive provincial programs, first the national news, and then the provincial news. It was like this every day, unchanged. Only the advertisements in the middle made us a little excited to watch. Sometimes there are programs on the county TV station, and sometimes there are not. Sometimes we can see the county magistrate, and then there are song requests. For birthdays, college entrance examinations, marriages, there are always people requesting songs. At first, Heidou watched it every day, but later he didn't want to watch it anymore.
