Malte's Notes (translation Classic)
About This Novel
"Notes of Malte" is the first peak in Rilke's creative career. It narrates the memories and confessions of a young Danish poet who was born into a declining aristocracy and had an unsociable and sensitive temperament. To a certain extent, it is a portrayal of the author himself. The novel is composed of 71 notebook fragments with no continuous plot and no chronological order. Because of the common themes - love, loneliness, fear, disease, death, God, creation, etc., It expresses the various spiritual issues that the author has been concerned about throughout his life. It forms a special organic whole in the spiritual undercurrent, and is known as one of the most important pioneer works of modern existentialism.
