About This Novel

Zhang Ziping, the founder of modern Chinese romance novels, occupies an important position in the history of modern Chinese literature. The first full-length novel in the history of modern Chinese literature was written by him. He was one of the most popular writers in my country in the early 1930s and the most prolific writer in the "Creation Society". His works had many readers and had a profound influence on the literary world. His works focus on describing the love between young men and women, from love triangles to polyamorous love. Lu Xun sarcastically called him a "triangular and polyamorous love novelist." In the Chinese metropolises at that time, citizens regarded holding Zhang Ziping's novels as a fashionable way of life. "Flying Catkins" is Zhang Ziping's second full-length romance novel. First published in June 1926 by Shanghai Guangming Bookstore. The work describes the story of an emotionally fragile young woman who was addicted to the vortex of love and finally committed suicide in love. In the advertisement for "Fei Xu" published by the Creation Society at that time, it was said that this novel was the "first masterpiece" describing love triangles and four corners.
