About This Novel
"The Complete Biography of Erdu Mei" is a Qing Dynasty vernacular novel, six volumes and 40 chapters, about 150,000 words, written by the owner of Xiyintang. The full title of the book is "The Complete Biography of Zhong, Xiao, Jieyi and Erdu Meiqi" and "The Theory of Erdu Meiqi". It was written by the master of Xiyintang and later adapted and performed by Peking Opera, Yue Opera, and Ping Opera. Although this book is a novel about talented men and beauties, the author does not simply write about the love between men and women, but devotes more space to the political struggle within the ruling group. Although it does not depart from the traditional theme of the struggle between loyalties and traitors, the plot of the work is tortuous, and although the clues are complicated, it is orderly.
