About This Novel
Huang Xishi, a young student from Anhui, saw the beauty of Bai Xingsu by a river and fell in love with her. He met Bai Xingsu by chance on the train to go to university in Peking and had a very happy conversation. After arriving in Beijing, he continued to pursue Bai Xingsu and went to the same school. Ling Xishi, a friend in Peking, quickly realized the power of money. Out of vanity, he pretended to be a young man and spent extravagantly on the beautiful socialite Mi Jinhua. He ignored his father's hard work and kept asking for money. Huang's father went to Peking for a visit. Unfortunately, he thought he was old-fashioned and pretended not to know his father in front of Mi Jinhua. Later, Mi Jinhua found out and broke up angrily. The father and son also severed their relationship. Xishi was depressed and went out to have fun, but he contracted syphilis. He spent all his savings and became poor and sick, and ended up living on the streets. Feeling deeply regretful, he became a hiker angrily.
