About This Novel
This book is a novel written by American writer Theodore Dreiser. The novel takes Jenny's tragic experience as the main clue and describes the encounter between Jenny, a poor hotel maid, and Senator Brand, who is in the upper class of society. Brand was infatuated with Jenny and promised to marry her, but unfortunately died before the marriage, leaving the pregnant Jenny alone. After giving birth to her daughter, Jenny worked as a maid for a wealthy family to make ends meet, and met Kane, the son of a wealthy manufacturer. Facing the opposition of the Kane family and carrying the secret of their illegitimate daughter, how will the love story between Jenny and Kane end? This book is a companion piece to "Sister Carrie". It is about the love-hate entanglement between a lower-class woman and an upper-class young man. What kind of unique flowers will Dreiser's wonderful pen produce?

Theodore Dreiser is such a rare good friend.
I am extremely grateful to be able to see the painstaking work left by my predecessors in this century. In particular, this kind of hardship and hardship that is thicker than blood is the emotional language that can only be expressed after struggling powerlessly and being injured in that oppressive and desperate environment. This work is exactly what the saying goes: What you eat is grass, and what you squeeze out is the feeling of milk.
