When Zhe Fangyu was on the verge of promotion, his father passed away, and he had to go home for the funeral. Zhe Fangyu's father, Zhe Wenzhi, worked as a pig feeder for the commune in his early years, then became a cook, and then became an administrator. After working as an administrator for many years, during the reform and opening up, the township government demanded money from grain collection, dilation and abortion, and everyone went to the countryside every day. He retired as he got older and sicker. Later, he simply moved back to his hometown of Qili Village with Zhe Fangyu's mother. Living with them in the village were Zhe Fangyu's brother Zhe Fangzhong and his sister-in-law Mei Fang. Zhewenzhi has been sick in recent years and has to be hospitalized several times a year. He suffers from coronary heart disease, emphysema, and cerebral infarction. Sometimes he stays in the county hospital, sometimes in Qianglong County Hospital where Zhefangyu works, and sometimes he stays in the city hospital.
