About This Novel

Du Fu is a well-known poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. He has more than 1,400 poems that have been handed down to this day. His poems record his life and thoughts and are a faithful reflection of his life trajectory and the era in which he lived. They are also outstanding works of art and the pinnacle of classical poetry. In the 1930s and 1940s, the Chinese people suffered from wars. Du Fu's life deeply touched people's heartstrings. The famous scholar Feng Zhi also began to study Du Fu during this period and began to write Du Fu's biography, which was published one after another. In the 1950s, People's Literature Publishing House invited Feng Zhi to annotate Du's poems. After Mr. Feng completed the selection, he was unable to annotate due to work arrangements, so the publishing house invited famous scholars Pu Jiangqing and Wu Tianwu to annotate the book. Pu and Wu worked hard to complete this anthology of Du's poems, which has great contemporary influence. The book was published in 1956. It contains 264 selected poems and is organized chronologically. It is a popular and academic anthology of Du's poems and is still readable today. In this reprint, we accept the opinions of the author's family and have attached several letters from Pu Jiangqing and Wu Tianwu discussing the annotation for your reference.
