About This Novel

Zhang Tingyu (1672-1755), also known as Hengchen and Yanzhai, was born in Tongcheng, Anhui Province. He was an important minister in the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong dynasties of the Qing Dynasty. He was given the posthumous title "Wenhe" after his death and was entitled to enjoy the Imperial Ancestral Temple. He was the only Han minister in the entire Qing Dynasty to enjoy the Imperial Ancestral Temple. This book starts from Zhang Tingyu's childhood and tells the story of Zhang Tingyu's wonderful and legendary life from birth to death: he suffered many hardships as a child and failed many tests as a youth. After becoming an official, he first carefully compiled history according to orders, and then worked conscientiously and abided by the law, and successively followed the three emperors Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong to govern the country. He served as a high-ranking official in the Qing Dynasty for decades as a Han minister. He was always at the core of power and did countless major and practical things for the country and the people. Although he encountered difficulties in his later years, looking back on his life, his indelible achievements and life still have profound educational significance for us today.
