The Sui Dynasty, which began in 581 AD and ended in 618 AD, was an important transitional period in Chinese history that succeeded the Southern and Northern Dynasties and ushered in the Tang Dynasty. In the history of poetry, the poetry of the Sui Dynasty is also a link between the past and the future. It not only carries the legacy of the poetry of the late Southern and Northern Dynasties, but also heralds the rise of Tang poetry.
