About This Novel
"The Idle Man in the Countryside" is the third part of An Ning's "Rural Trilogy". The first two parts are "Our Disappearing Rural Life" (2016.3, Huangshan Publishing House) and "Forgotten Plants in the Countryside" (2016.7, Beijing United Publishing Company). The selected cases in the book represent the composition of most rural areas in China, such as village chiefs, vendors, rural doctors, craftsmen, college students, singles, etc. The joys and sorrows of these individual characters also represent the living conditions of most ordinary people in rural areas.
