About This Novel

This book is a collection of Shen Congwen's essays, and the selected articles are all based on Shen Congwen's life trajectory and hometown complex. Shen Congwen graduated from Yuanshui River and walked and stopped several times on Yuanshui River, writing down what he saw and felt along the way. The selected prose includes the author's memories in "Past Events in Western Hunan" and freehand writing in "Records of a Travel to Hunan", as well as the scenery of flowing water and clouds and Congwen's life insights after living in the city for a long time. Through these prose, we can clearly feel the author's attachment to the aesthetic image of water, and we can also understand that although he has been away from his hometown for many years, he is deeply rooted in the author's blood and cannot let go of his homeland.
