Zero Kilometers
by Tang Di
About This Novel
"Kilometer Zero" is the latest novel masterpiece by Tang Di, a post-1980s crossover writer and pioneering film director. The work consists of thirteen journeys - thirteen independent but connected novel stories, narrated by a mysterious and looming protagonist Li Songye, and all the stories follow his whereabouts. The thirteen "journeys" can be independent chapters or connected into a map-like novel. In the process of heading to the "zero kilometer", the story is embedded in the deeply remembered fragments of the journey. In the name of the small town, it is distributed among several crucial turning points in life. The story unfolds around the intertwining of memory and forgetting, reality and magic, body and soul, and uses novels, dramas, images and hidden camera language to detail the spiritual wanderings and adventures of contemporary youth "on the way".
