About This Novel
Chen Jian (1937-) was born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. Member of the Communist Party of China. In 1956, he was admitted to the Chinese Department of Hangzhou University. After graduation, he stayed at the school to teach and engage in teaching and research of modern Chinese literature. He was named a professor in 1990 and served as the director of the Chinese Department of Zhejiang University from 1999 to 2002. He is a member of the Chinese Writers Association, a director of the Chinese Modern Literature Research Association, an executive director of the Chinese Drama Literature Society, and the former president of the Zhejiang Literary Society. Since 1991, he has enjoyed special allowances from the State Council. Mr. Chen's main subject areas are modern drama research and Xia Yan research, which had a great impact on the elaboration of the three development stages of modern Chinese drama "Tian Han-Cao Yu-Xia Yan". He once edited "The Complete Works of Xia Yan". "Chen Jian Wen Cun" compiles a total of 8 types of outstanding treatises in Chen Jian's life, and this is the fifth type.
