About This Novel
Since living in Germany, with an eye of examination and reflection, I have gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of German society, culture, tradition, humanities, history, and politics at all levels. I am inspired by the vivid characters and the stories behind them, so I write this article. They are a microcosm of the current situation of German society and truly reflect the current people's livelihood in Germany. The "Epp family", neighbors who live in poverty but are eager to help others; "girlfriend Inas" who selflessly donates to charity for orphans in Ethiopia and Nepal; "Mr. Brandenburg" who loves China and is obsessed with Chinese; "Berlin girl Mo," who can't find a job after graduating from university and struggles on her own. "Nika"; "Special Village" that reflects the typical German rural style and folk customs; "World Cup in Germany" and "Young Opponents" that reflect the patriotism and spiritual outlook of the Germans; "Memories of taking the driving license test in Germany" and "Adopted Daughter Lisa" that reflect German humanistic sentiments and fraternity, and "Adopted Daughter Lisa", etc. They may come from different classes and have different personalities and lives, but it is they who constitute the German story with all five flavors.
