Research on Land Development and Environmental Changes in the Northern Foothills of Tianshan Mountains: 1757-1949
by Zhang Li
About This Novel
Land use and land cover changes play an extremely important role in global environmental changes. Reconstructing and in-depth understanding of the impact of human activities on surface landscape changes in historical periods has been the main goal of many scientific research programs in recent years. This book selects the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang as the research area. On the premise that agricultural land development is the main driving force for regional environmental changes, this book systematically sorts out the changes in land development policies and the increase and decrease in the agricultural population in the region since the 22nd year of Qianlong (1757), and reconstructs five time intervals from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. Based on the population and cultivated land amount of the six sub-regions on the surface, an in-depth analysis of the spatiotemporal differences in regional development in the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains was conducted. Based on a comprehensive study of the changing processes of the river and lake systems in the region, combined with the research conclusions on regional climate change, profound insights into the interaction process and mechanism of the human-land relationship in the region were provided.
