About This Novel

"Liu Binbin's Speech Record" is an important notebook novel in the late Tang Dynasty. In the tenth year of Emperor Xuanzong's reign (856), Wei Xuan compiled the records of Liu Yuxi's conversations in Changqing and wrote them. When Liu Yuxi was in Kuizhou, Wei Xuan, the son of Wei Zhiyi, came to visit him and accompanied him around. He recorded his conversations. In the tenth year of his junior high school, he compiled it into a volume "Liu Gongjia Lu", which was renamed "Liu Gongjia Lu" by later generations. Although this book was not written by Liu himself, it extensively covers historical events and characters at that time, and reflects Liu Yuxi's ideological views and literary theories. It is an extremely important historical material for the study of Liu Yuxi. Moreover, these conversations also included "dramatic talks by literati of the country and dynasty, new words of ministers, unusual sleep talk, playful divination and blessings, and beautiful nursery rhymes", etc., Which provided important historical materials for the study of politics, thought, and literature in the middle and late Tang Dynasty.
