About This Novel
My mother and I still live in the red building in the city. This is a two-story building with wooden stairs and two stairwells on the east and west. Two families live in it. In two years, nothing has changed in our lives. The house is spotless, with white walls, aluminum doors and windows, and the purple locust tree in the yard stretches all the way to the balcony on the second floor. I always feel that worldly life is getting farther and farther away from my mother and me, even though we are in the city, we enjoy time, air, dust, and listen to noise every day. We watch TV, read newspapers, follow the stock market, and occasionally talk. We eat the healthiest and most beautiful foods, vegetables and fruits... My mother and I try our best to live in the air of the past and maintain the original appearance of life... However, I know this is no longer possible.
