About This Novel

"Wangshu's Poetry Draft" was published by Shanghai Magazine Company Press in 1937. It is a collection of Dai Wangshu's poetry drafts, with appendices including a few notes on poetry and six chapters of French poetry. The famous "Rain Alley" and "My Memory" are all included in this collection of poems. Influenced by Western symbolism, Dai Wangshu's poems are based on melancholy. The poems contain both classical life feelings and modern helpless sadness. He uses the tone of friendly daily speech to seamlessly combine the images of traditional poetry with modern symbolic techniques to implicitly express the sorrowful emotions of modern people with exquisite emotions and delicate brushwork. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, he was known as the "poetry leader" of the modern poetry school because of his unique style.
