About This Novel

Zhao Shaohou (1899-1978) graduated from the French Department of Peking University in 1919. After graduation, he stayed at the school to teach. He served as a teacher and director of the Department of Literature and Art at the University of China and France, a lecturer at the French Department of Peking University, and an editor at the People's Literature Publishing House. He began to publish works in 1932, and his representative translations include "The Hypocrite", "The Hater", "The Stingy Man", "Ball of Suet", "The Necklace", etc. His translation of Molière's works is a domestic classic translation. This book also contains "Short Stories of Maupassant" translated by Zhao Shaohou.
