This book is Ding Songqing's life story and spiritual growth recorded in Lanyu and Qingquan. Ding Songqing came to Taiwan in 1969. Two years later, he served as a trainee monk on Orchid Island, a small island on the southeast coast, and spent an unforgettable year with the Yamei people. In this year, he met Sanmao by chance, who came to Lanyu for a visit, and their twenty-year friendship began. In the summer of 1976, Ding Songqing served as a priest at Qingquan Catholic Church in the mountainous area of Hsinchu. After that, Sanmao visited Qingquan three times and formed an indissoluble bond with Qingquan.
