About This Novel
"Starting from the Suomo River" is a collection of poems by Alai, winner of the Mao Dun Literature Prize. It includes works with distinctive styles and elegant imagery, including "The Storm Gone", "It's Night", "Mountains, or Ode to Myself", and "Dance of the Soul". These poems show the vast and silent plateau life through beautiful language and smooth narrative, and express Alai's awe and love for the soil and nature where his ancestors have lived for generations with simple and sincere writing styles. This book is the Alai poetry collection with the largest number of poems to date. The first volume is from the author's first personal poetry collection "Suo Mo River" published by Sichuan Ethnic Publishing House in 1991. The second and third volumes are selected from "Alai's Poems" published by Sichuan Literature and Art Publishing House in 2016. On this basis, the fourth volume includes Alai's early works published in local magazines, ethnic poetry anthologies and other reading materials.
