About This Novel

As a collection of book reviews on culture, literature and art, this book is divided into four volumes: Chinese cultural observation, Western cultural overview, contemporary literature, and Chinese and Western art. The author first discusses the form of traditional Chinese culture and its spiritual core of self-improvement. Secondly, he points out the various crises hidden behind the power of Western culture. He once again outlines the various realistic ecology of the contemporary literary world and the literary corners that are easily overlooked. Finally, he analyzes the aesthetic differences between Chinese and Western painting art, as well as the little-known ideological game behind Hollywood movies. In the book review of more than 200,000 words, the author sometimes analyzed rationally, sometimes expressed passionately, and conducted a unique "discussion on the mountain of books". In the author's opinion, culture, literature and art are connected by flesh and blood and spirit. Looking at art without culture, or talking about literature without culture, is one-sided and incomplete.

Our politics teacher once differentiated culture and civilization for us in politics class. However, there are still many people in the world today who cannot tell the difference between culture and civilization. They feel that the two words have similar meanings and there is not much difference.

Culture is a word that is often used by people. However, I would like to ask a question. Do you know what culture means? Many people may know and understand in their hearts, but they cannot express the meaning of the word culture.

Mr. Zhang Dainian is a well-known philosopher and master of Chinese studies at home and abroad. He has spent his whole life studying culture. I admire him very much for dedicating his life to studying culture. I wonder how many people can do it like him.
