About This Novel

Xu Zhiyuan wrote a preface to recommend the 2013 Taipei Book Fair Grand Prize-winning work, an incomplete picture of searching for his father, and a confession of the Son of Man. This book is a collection of Wang Jianzhuang's articles recalling his father in the "Collection of Three Young Masters and Four Strong" column of "China Times". Fang Zheng's unsmiling father spent a quarter of his life wandering in the flames of war, and was chased by death from behind every day. From the Anti-Japanese War to the Civil War between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, this personal witness of a tiny soldier in history has never been spoken between father and son, and the ordinary existence seems to not exist. It was not until the child was born and the father was promoted to grandfather that the alienation between the two generations gradually resolved. Twelve years after his father's death, Wang Jianzhuang finally summoned up the courage to try to collage a picture of his father's life from small pieces of memory fragments. Fifty stories traveled through time and space, searching for him. In the end, what he got was still only an incomplete picture of the search for his father, and a confession of the son of man.
