About This Novel
The author of this book describes his love affair with silkworms and his inner thoughts in three parts. The first part tells the story of the author who climbed up to the vast snow-covered plateau despite his family's dissuasion in order to see the face of the world's mulberry king; in order to uncover the ten thousand-year mystery of sericulture, he traveled around Bashu landscapes, Jiangnan water towns and even the Loess Plateau; in order to understand the development trend of the sericulture industry in the modern world, he even traveled to Japan at his own expense to visit the president of the Japanese Silk Association. The second part discusses the domestication of silkworms and the use of cocoons. It is believed that silkworms are a religious phenomenon in ancient times. They are the most intuitive and direct experience of the reincarnation of life. As a totem of life, silkworms provide religious comfort to ignorant and naive humans. In the third part, the author writes down the people and things that take sericulture as their career and life - a group that takes sericulture as their life.
