About This Novel
On October 11, Jason Tavner was still a big star with 30 million fans; on October 12, he was lying in a shabby hotel room with all his personal information wiped out. In a country where the lack of identification is a crime, he has to fumble through the chaos to track down the truth. The novel describes a society under the autocratic rule of the National Guard and the police, intertwined with celebrity effect, genetic modification, time and space distortion and the proliferation of drugs, and explores the nature of love and humanity. He won the Campbell Award in 1975 and was nominated for the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award.
