About This Novel
"The Way Spring Arrives and Other Stories" is an international cooperation project of contemporary Chinese fantasy novels. Weixiang Culture, Shanghai Literature and Art, and Tor have joined forces to launch the English version of "The Way Spring Arrives and Other Stories" simultaneously overseas. The authors, editors, translators, and designers are all female creators, including Yu Chen, Wang Kanyu, Lindsey Hall, and Ruoxi Chen, Zhang Yiwen, and Jin Xueni jointly edited and curated the collection, which includes 17 short stories and short stories by 15 representative writers of science fiction and fantasy. It is a wonderful appearance of Chinese fantasy literature "going global" in recent years. The genres of pan-fantasy novels included in this book are diverse: one type has elements of ancient oriental style, such as "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe: Tai Chi Taro Paste" reconstructs the time travel of the traditional scholar Zhang Dai, "The Way Spring Comes" retells the ancient mythical stories of the Chinese nation, and "Deyu" is a supernatural novel about gods. Yun, "Five Virtues Overcoming Tribulation" comes from the animal cultivation series, and "Yinglong" can be regarded as a new story; one type casts imagination into a wider time and space, such as "The Equilibrium Formula" is a magnificent epic about the evolution of species and the rise and fall of civilization on a cosmic scale, and "Baby Baby I Love You" is based on Develop a holographic parent-child game "Raising a Baby" to explore the nature of parent-child love. "The Secret of the Mountain and the Name" tells the story of traditional folk rituals, while Dashan's algorithm is hidden in the genealogy and passed down from generation to generation; one type is more text-experimental, such as "The Woman Carrying a Corpse" tells absurd fables , "Blackbird" has a distinctive magical realism style... Later, Shi Jingyuan's essay "Gender Construction and the Future of Chinese Science Fiction" is used as a postscript to analyze the gender issues in contemporary science fiction novels and trigger our thinking on broader issues such as the state of science and technology in our era.
