Nie Yinniang (the Original Novel of Hou Hsiao-hsien's Film "the Assassin")
About This Novel
"Nie Yinniang" is a piece in the collection of classical Chinese short stories "Legends" written by Pei Kai of the Tang Dynasty. The emergence of Tang legends is a sign of the maturity of classical Chinese novels in my country, and many of them have a profound impact on the creation of literary classics in later generations. For example, Wang Shifu's "The Romance of the West Chamber" is based on the Tang Dynasty legend "The Legend of Yingying"; Tang Xianzu's "The Peony Pavilion" is based on "The Legend of the Lost Soul"; Hong Sheng's "The Palace of Eternal Life" is based on the "Song of Everlasting Sorrow" and so on. It is the original novel of the famous director Hou Hsiao-hsien's latest masterpiece, and the movie of the same name will be released soon.
