About This Novel
Brother Xulun: I have half a day free today to write you this letter. I talked on the phone over the weekend, but I still felt like there was still a lot to say. Living far away in England is lonely. Every time I pick up the phone, I can't bear to put it down, but I always restrain myself to keep my words short, otherwise I will be shocked when I receive the bill from the phone company at the end of the month. We poor international students are indeed not so luxurious that we can use the international communication satellites over the Pacific Ocean to make phone calls as we please. Talking to my friends on the phone always gives me a sense of pleasure and warmth. I am really grateful from the bottom of my heart that you and my friends back home are still thinking of me so much! Speaking of which, it has been three years since I left the country and traveled far away. I miss my hometown, my relatives and friends all the time, and the unfettered happy time when we got together together.
