About This Novel
"Missing Performance" was first published in the 3rd issue of Harvest magazine in 2017. It is almost a manifesto and avant-garde literary work. The author believes that "this is a painful and necessary piece of writing about how to deal with conditional constraints." The story takes place in Shanghai, a country called "Neiguo" and locations codenamed with coordinates xxx, xxx. The hero and heroine of the story have no specific names. They are called "heroine" and "heroine" respectively, and even the hero "may be Chinese or European." The real protagonist of the story may also be the "heroine"'s close friend Hong in Shanghai - a Shanghai writer who has been writing novels since he was 14 years old - and the protagonist in Mianmian's famous work "Sugar" - Hong. It's a work of fear that introduces a new kind of "inner-city human" who "uniformly alternates between savior and monster." This is also a work that describes the soul of Shanghai at night - this unique soul miraculously mirrors Mianmian's literary (fictional) view of each other.
