"Thérèse Lacan" is a novel by Zola. It describes a woman, Thérèse, who meets and has a passionate collision with a young man, Laurent, after marrying her aunt's son, Camille. Thérèse had affairs with her lover again and again, and because she could not get married, she murdered her frail, dull husband Camille. In order to escape the horrific hallucinations after the murder, the man and woman finally chose to commit suicide by taking poison.
