"The Ruins Were Glorious" is the first collection of prose works by the famous novelist Zhang Ling. It is a collection of his prose creations over more than 20 years. It is divided into three volumes. The first volume, "Snow and Mud Claws," is a record of the author's experiences during his travels to Chengdu, Cuba and other places; the second volume, "Morning Blossoms Picked Up at Dusk," is the author's recollections of his childhood, growth, hometown, relatives and friends; and the third volume, "Books and Words," mainly includes the author's book reviews and talks about the creation of his masterpieces. Zhang Ling was born in the coastal city of Wenzhou and lived by the Oujiang River in her childhood. Later, she left her hometown to go to university in Shanghai, and then left China and drifted to the other side of the ocean, gaining a new understanding of the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western cultures... Although she was getting farther and farther away from her hometown, she wrote about her hometown in a foreign land, and there was a strong Jiangnan style in every line.
