Buddhism and Chinese Culture

This is a collection of academic essays. Mr. Ji analyzed the deeds of three people who went to India to seek Dharma as the main line. He also analyzed the background and experiences of their Dharma seeking, the books they brought back, their translation results, and the impact of the new Buddhism. The author first reviews previous research results and points out the shortcomings. Secondly, it gives evidence of the credibility of the researched data and why it mainly uses the autobiographies of Faxian, Xuanzang and Yijing, supplemented by other contemporary materials. Faxian was due to the initial development of Buddhism, the number of monks, and the urgent need for precepts. Xuanzang faced the lack of Buddhism, and some things needed new theoretical support. Yijing and Xuanzang had similar starting points. The book also has a large space to examine the time and route of Buddhism entering China from a linguistic perspective. From the difference between Buddha and pagoda, it is found that the pagoda appears in the front and the Buddha appears in the back. Then, by comparing the original Sanskrit scriptures with Tocharian A and Tocharian B, it is deduced that there are two routes for Buddhism to come to China: 1. The indirect transmission of the peoples of the Western Regions 2. The spread of the Iranian language family. The information is sufficient and the inference is reasonable. The author also introduces the influence of Buddhism on Chinese culture. Personally, I think it is not very good, mainly because it is too crude. The article also provides detailed research on the original "line dispute" of Buddhism. Restore the early development of Buddhism.
