About This Novel
"Confessions of a Mask" is Mishima Yukio's first novel. It is like a young man's eloquent reminiscences and "is a perfect fictional book of confessions." This work was hailed by Kawabata Yasunari as "the hope of the 1950s" and established Mishima's literary status.

Being born during a period of major earthquakes is very unusual at this age. It is also unimaginable that we would have such thoughts. Being born as a human being is inherently very different, and it is impossible to refute it.
The questions raised by the author regarding the explanation of his birth are really irrefutable, and to be honest, I never thought there were so many, and I never thought that such a thing would be really sad.
It is true. A baby has no memory when it is just born. For such things, it also has some very unusual meanings, but adults really know how to say it.
