About This Novel
The book "Ulysses" is divided into three parts and has a total of eighteen chapters. In chronological order, it describes the daily life experiences of Leopold Bloom, a depressed and hesitant Dublin citizen and advertising salesman, in one day and night in Dublin on June 16, 1904. Joyce compared Bloom's day wandering the streets of Dublin to Ulysses (Odysseus)'s ten years at sea in Homer's epic poem, while depicting the psychology of his unfaithful wife Molly and the second male protagonist Stephen's search for a spiritual father. This book is hailed as the top 100 novels of the 20th century. Ireland also designates June 16 every year as "Bloom Day", which is the second largest holiday after the National Day.
