This book contains three widely circulated and extremely popular romance sketches from the Qing Dynasty, including "Reminiscences of Yingmei'an", "Reminiscences of Xiangwanlou" and "Reminiscences of Autumn Lanterns". Maoxiang's "Memories of Yingmei'an" was written in memory of his deceased concubine, Dong Xiaowan, a former famous prostitute in the south of the Yangtze River.
